milka working in the garden

This is me, haha.
"Tickle the earth with a hoe, it will laugh a harvest" - Douglas William Jerrold

And today's harvest
kailan, timun tua and acerola cherries - all free from eggs :))

Woodworking project reveal- trellis

If you still remember the trellises that i made for my passion fruit vine... This is another trellis that i made last weekend. I hope this new home makes it happy to bear me some fruits! This time!!

My (very headache) passion fruit vine has become so messy again that i had to prune it botak (bald) before i fit the trellis in.

The idea of making an arbor-like-trellis is actually come from One, she reminded me of how the vines in D-Paradise are beautifully grown where the fruits hung above our heads as we walk in the pathway. But of course, this milka-made trellis is not as pretty and strong as those you see in the market.

A very expensive arbor/trelllis selling in a local store

Sorry for the blur image, i was not allowed to snap any photo here- gotta be quick before being kicked out! Haha.

Happy Wednesday!

Today's harvest

Pak choy (奶油白菜)

Do you use any cleanser on your harvest?

These veggies may look good to you but the thousands of don't-know-whose-eggs at the back of the leaves sent a cold shiver down my spine... I washed+brushed them with cleanser x5 pails of water (-_-)!! And still i don't feel like eating them...

Woodworking project

Having too much of these in March, i feel like no life already...

How about a woodworking project today?

Materials/ tools and my working buddies
Wood 1.5" x 0.5"

A mini wood saw that was bought and kept

Hammer and nails

Fave white paint and brush

This will go into shower with me to wash off the paint

Gloves

For my ears

And this is to shoo away the mosquitoes

Work-in-progress
Wanna try guess what is this that i'm working on?
Project reveal will come soon. It's been done but i haven't had time to take a picture on the finished project yet.

To be continued...

Something spooky to share

My daughter spotted a mickey mouse doll hanging in the air outside an empty bungalow house few months ago. It is still there today.

It is believed that a hung doll appears to hold some sort of cursed spell. Spooky, huh?

Happy weekends!

Back from timbaktu

I apologize for not being around often these days. Issues with my computer, issues with my workers, issues with my family and issues at work are driving me crazy. Stress stress STRESS. I was sick for one whole week. Severe headache plus fever, suspected dengue but luckily the blood test was negative. It could be just my mind that needs a break, i guess? Haha.

I finally had strength to walk out to the garden yesterday and took some pics. Question: Ay, how come my plants grow even better without my care?
Haha.

Gardenias are blooming

Roses are blooming

Carrots and daikon are doing fine too

And i see hope- new leaves!- growing out from the half bald tree (yeah~)

One welcome me back with these... seeds! I found them on my very messy office table when i back to work yesterday.
See the packing? Awww, so kawaiiiiii (cute).
Thank you, One!

Meanwhile, i'm still moving like a kame here. There are still issues waiting to be settled. Please forgive me if i have not visited your blog lately. I'll be back to active, very soon... i hope.

Praying for Japan. And always for Rayyan.

The shade tree

We have a west-facing garden that receives extra long hour of sunlight (HOT sun!!) everyday. Most of the plants would not survive in this garden, even with those drought tolerant plants - erm, maybe because i didn't water the plants as much as i do now haha.

Our sahara side garden in 2006

We decided to have this Beijing tree (北京树) planted in the middle of the garden for its beautiful spreading canopies and ofcourse mainly for its shade. Now this tree serves more than a shade to our home...Beijing tree

It is a home for the bees

A home for the birds (Woops! This is not real, haha)

A shade bed (5 x 10 feet) for the plants

My little playground

Guess what? A drainage hole...

And the tree barks are used as mulch to apply around the base of shrubs to suppress weeds and to adorn the garden...

Today the tree does not look lush anymore, the leaves just keep falling off by the stem and i think it is going to bald! The leaves on the tree are green and healthy, and the trunk looks okay too but we have more leaves on the ground everyday since 2 months ago.
2010

2011 I'm panicking but i don't know what to do! Is my tree sick? Or........ dying?? If he'd gone, everything that is under his care now will be gone too... sob! *
