The Mickey Mouse Plant

No where to go on Christmas night, and my hands get very itchy as i walked into the garden so i took out my tool box and started to do some annual refurbish work - painting - I have serious addiction to white paint :)

I painted these two pots white, one with a Mickey Mouse plant sitting inside. This plant has been neglected for a year, by putting it in the car porch exposed to only little indirect sunlight and almost no fertilizer at all (ok, i know i was bad)... But i promised i will treat her good from now on, hoping that she will give me some flowers by this coming Chinese New Year, haha.

This is how a Mickey Mouse plant looks like when in bloom,
from flowers to fruits.

Happy Sunday!

It's the thought that counts

Two cute little angels from my primary classmate, Ms Teng.
All the way from Kuala Lumpur :)

Another goodie from Ms Teng. The gingerbread man, McD kiddie meal's toy. She told me he will be happy to stay in my garden. So i put him together with the little guy Shinchan - a gift from my Singapore uncle, it's a free gift from buying tea leaves during his trip to China.

I think the gingerbread man looks nicer in naked, i like them all naked haha.

Meanwhile, i'm expecting this from my aunty's junk.
A beautiful rattan birdcage is on its way from Johore ;)

*****
Whether these gifts are free gifts or used or even from junk,
they are priceless and mean a lot to me.
Thank you, i love you all.

CDs... ice cubes... sunflower!!

Some simple things i did in the garden today.

Placing some old CDs in the veggie raised beds to repel flies and to deter other pests from stealing my veggies. I don't know how effective it is but since i don't like the idea of using harsh chemicals in the garden to chase away or kill pests, this can be a good alternative, if it works. No harm trying.

I finally bought a poinsettia. I thought of not getting any this year as the blooms and plants don't last long and it is very sad to see them go every time after the season but... i did it again! Poinsettias are just so festive for the holidays, how can i resist? The gardener told me to put some ice cubes on it to prolong the colours on the leaves. I googled, most of the articles would only tell you this "Do not put ice cubes, coffee or cigarettes in the pot...". I'm confused, put or don't put? I gave it a try anyway.

This... can you reassure me that my seedling sprouts? Hah!! This is one of the sunflower seeds from Diana that i sowed and it sprouts!! I'm so happy to see this little life begins.

Okay okay, i know i shouldn't be here when i'm on medical leave (on and off for a month now, due to blur vision) but i can't help myself as i'm too used to computer and blogging now. Seeing the doctor again tomorrow, another off day for me. Oh i love being at home :))

Mixed plantings

I like to combine two flower plants in one pot so that the legs don't look so bare and it's also because they are so much fun to create.

Jatropha integerrima -v- 一点红

Prince vines -v- Plumbagoa uriculata

Michelia figo -v- Japanese ivy

My very botak Hibiscus -v- Portulacas

Morning glory -v- Portulacas

Ah, also meet my Roy-boy. He finally got mood for camera today.
Ain't he handsome?
Happy weekend.

My 1st garden guest

My Friendstock sifu (guru - well yes i must admit i played FB game a lot haha) came to visit me the other day and we had fun together limteh and jiak kek (had tea and cake).

She took along her new toy Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX9 and jumped into the garden and started to snap every corner even before the rain stopped- So young and so energetic, i smiled.

These are the photos she took with her Sony Cyber-shot

She took a photo of me! But i told her "No, not the front!" I camera shy, haha.

Later when the night came we went into the house and waited for dinner to be served. That's my hb, chef of the night!
We're two lucky women! ;)
Thank you Pei Ling for the visit, and thanks for all the beautiful photos and sweet memories. See you again very soon :))
