Eggshells- 'secret' revealed

A lot of friends have been asking me, why am i so crazy over eggshells?

Eggshells, eggshells, eggshells... oh yes i love eggshells...

In some lucky days, i managed to collect a basket full of eggshells
in just a day!!

See how the train caterpillars avoiding eggshells in the pot

Besides making eggshells fertilizer, i use 'em a lot to help me to deter slugs, snails, caterpillars and the like in the garden. Because these creatures have to slither along the ground with only a mucous membrane for protection, laying eggshells around the plants will stop them in their tracks. When they find no way but to move out from the soil, it encourages animals higher up the food chain like birds to visit the garden more often as all these pest littering around are too good to miss out on... By the way, this is not any secret recipe, you can always google it from the internet :)

Happy gardening!

Monday quickie tour

I sowed some lettuce seeds. But they all turned out become chillies.
??????????????????????????????????
I wonder what went wrong here, LOL.
Other than this, the rest of the seedlings/plants are growing normally.

My first brinjal, awaiting to be transplanted.

Ginger.

Kailan.

Do you remember this?
See how these vines help me to hide away the ugly drainage pipe.
They are beautiful and i am happy :)

This is one of my many loves.
I've been planting this for 2 years,
and it's a shame that i still don't know the name of it.

Do you know her?

Happy Monday.

Chinese superstition- wind chimes

Wind chimes are bestowed with myths and superstitions. Some said, hanging wind chimes near your home will bring wealth and prosperity to you and your family. Some said, wind chimes scare away evil spirits and hung in doorways and windows can dissuade bad luck from entering a home. But in older days, people believe that hanging wind chimes in your home will attract naughty spirits. I don't know which is true. I have 4 wind chimes and i hung 'em all up in my garden, for their soothing sounds and visual beauty.

Wind chime no.1

Wind chime no.2

Wind chime no.3

Wind chime no.4

NOT THIS ONE!
I bought this wind chime last week from a thrift shop. It is huge. I didn't want to buy this but i don't know why it was with me at the counter when paying. It followed me home. I hung this in the garden, but for only 2 nights i took it off. I had a weird creepy feeling towards this wind chime. I didn't sleep well during the 2 nights, i kept hearing continuous tingling hum in my ears. I had nightmares, and i woke up with unexplained bruises on my knees the next day morning, and scratches on the bruises the following morning. It could possibly be me that pinching myself in my sleep? But i can't explain the scratches on the bruises - i have a bad habit biting my nails so i don't keep long finger nails. It is hard not to let my imagination run wild! Then i recalled another Chinese superstition saying that a naughty ghost's visit will leave you bruises and scratches. Oooh i get a chill just thinking about this... Say no more, i took the wind chime down and tossed it in trash. And my sleep is now back to normal. No more nightmares, no more bruises or scratches.

What do you think about wind chimes?
Does anyone else think that wind chimes are spooky?

I made some fertilizer to keep.

I fertilized the flowers with chicken manure for this week.

I fed the veggies with lots of water.

I hung this pretty up.

I painted the birds...

I also repaired the ladybug, my daughter tore it into half this morning.

I trimmed some plants...

...and also the tree.

I transplanted some papaya babies to the ground...

...and i still not giving up to safe this Pandan, silly me.

I hope your Saturday was a great one too.
