What did you use to fertilize your plants today?

I used (expired) milk- instead of throwing it down to the trash.
Milk is rich in nitrogen and your plants will love it.
Happy Sunday!

Do you have this shrub in your garden?

Oleander!
This is a very common grown evergreen shrub found in M'sia and almost every garden lover will plant one in their garden. Me too, have one in my back yard, planted far away from my house - In fact she is all by her own there - Why? Because of its well known poisonous effect. I googled, it says "... all its parts are very poisonous and one leaf is enough to cause death!!". I was hesitate, but i brought her back finally because she is too beautiful to have.

Oleander. After planted for 1.5 years.

Isn't she gorgeous?
But soon i will take her off for my vegge garden dream comes true.
So... so long, pretty! *sob!*

BEFORE & AFTER side garden

Our house has been constantly evolving since we moved in, because that is milka- me, who is staying here, lol. It is a 80 years OLD house with some land. The house was in a very bad condition- in or out. Like most of the young couples, we didn't have much to spend on our newly wed home so we transformed the space bit by bit and ofcourse with minimum budget. Showing below the before and after pics of my playground- the side garden, which is also my wonderland :)

BEFORE - 2006
It looked awful, we were like living in a desert. Soon we did some tree work, planted some pearl grass, laid the land with cement for easy maintenance (i would prefer some stone path but budget.. budget...), built a glass patio (that's my studio!).. etc etc but the house remains green because it is my fave colour :)) And now here’s the after..

AFTER - June 2010
Before the tree is trimmed, the curtain is up, and some minor here and there..

AFTER - August 2010
Now.. do you feel like visiting me? ^_^

That's the before and after for today.
Happy Wednesday!

Johnson, Johnson where are you?

Pic taken on 20/07/2010
An old pic taken from my Facebook. Meet Johnson the kitty cat - he came to my house everyday without fail to nap and play, and went home at late evening. But i haven't seen him for the past 2 weeks..?? Wonder is he ok? Or does he has a better place to hang out these days? Oh I miss him!

See the windchime i just bought? (It is a thrift buy! yeah~)
Too colourful here, i bet you can hardly see it haha..

After a mini project now comes the BIG project hehe

This is the thing that keeps me busy for the past few days -- and coming days!!

I always wanted to transform my back yard into a vegie garden but lack of $, lack of inspiration, lack of time.. had postponed the whole thing till today.

This is an impromptu project- i made this with my liquid paper on the table, LOL.
We have a spacious back yard as "Roy's Residence" for our house guard - Roy, a very active Doberman who is turning 5 this coming December. He loves running mad in his territory but i just thought we could make the land more useable..

And so i drew out this plan, i want a vegie garden in my back yard!! To grow my tomatoes, parsley, beans etc etc in the 4 planned vegie beds.. And some papaya trees (and maybe a durian tree??) at the right corner.. And a row of white picket fence, with an arbor of climbing Bougainvillea - my dreamed climbing Rose is impossible for this climate :-( ..
So what will the project be like? Don't forget to come back if you wanna know :-)

Wishing you all have a fabulous weekends, in the garden! :))

Mini project

I got this little stool for free from Bonuslink redeemed at 2.7k points (it is free, yay). It is initially meant for my little one but the stool legs are unstable and is dangerous for sitting esp for a young child. So, project again, for use as... with.............

My fave brush from 100Yen shop :)

My ♥♥ white paint :))

And it has a new coat now :)))
(P/S: Did you notice the surrounding was dark? It was almost midnight, in the garden hehe - i bet my neighbour was peeping me again haha)

And then now the stool is sitting in the garden. Looking as good as before huh? Or even better?? Haha.
So what did you do over your weekends?

Happy Monday everyone!!

Busiest tree at No.2

Have you ever seen a tree with 3 bird nests and a beehive at the same time?
We have one, at No.2 :)

Bird nest. Showing here only one bird nest because the rest site pretty far from my camera :( Maybe you could dropby and say hi to them if you passby No.2 :)

Mini beehive for the mini bees! These busy little creatures have important roles as they are responsible for pollinating my flowers... Hey, my graden is not only a eco-friendly garden, but it's now also a bee-friendly garden, haha!

A short one for today.
Spider Lily wishes you a wonderful weekends!

5 second makeover ;)

We had patchy light rain this early morning when i stepped out from the house but i insisted to go to the garden for a quickie...

BEFORE
I keep my organic soil in this black 'tong' (bin), it gives an unpleasant view to the garden :( I'm not changing the container for the time being though. Hmmm... i wanna screen it!
I took out a piece of unused curtain and covered the whole thing up... and Wa-La!! It looks just----GREeeAT-- now!
(see pic below)

AFTER
...And milka went to work happily after that... :))
P/S: the little house is actually my garden trash ;P

Poisonous houseplant?

Do you have a poisonous houseplant lurking in your house? Chances are you do.

For Fengshui reason, i keep this plant planted at the main door for years and recently i read an article and got to know that it is poisonous and would cause us cancer. I made a deeper research on this and got a conflicting answer saying that this plant can actually be used as an air purifier, it can rid the air of the organic chemicals and toxins that cause asthma and other ailments....? HUH? so which is true??!!???

I'm going to remove it, anyway...
But tell me if you know it is harmful, or not?

Chinese superstition

I'm showing you a before & after pics here today but first of all i have a little story to tell...

Back in 2006 when we just moved into this house (i.e. No.2), our family was small- only my hubby and i and our 3 doggies- Abby, Bobby and Roy. I had the practise to lean a broom outside the house in the upside down position and facing the main door to safeguard our home. It is the Chinese belief that by doing this gives protection against intruders and would make unwanted guests want to leave sooner. I'm not sure why a broom has such power but it seemed work ;)

BEFORE - 2006
Nehhhhhhh---- see the broom?

AFTER - 2010
And this is how the door to the garden looks right now. It is now a mini patio for resting cum laundry. I think it looks very much better than before :)

I have more of the before & after pics that i need to tidy up a bit first before showing to you, very soon ya! :))

Have a great week ahead!
